What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Take this with a very large grain of salt...I made my goal of 7.8 lb through very low carb eating, but I have promised myself that I will have a cheat meal--well, probably a day to be honest-- if we have a snow day, which seems to be likely this Thursday (north TX, upper DFW area). I will lose half my progress and then have to be very strict to get it back. I think I do best when dieting this way, be strict, and then allow a cheat meal. It helps my metabolism. It's also more fun.

Editing to add, I have to watch my potassium to keep it high enough. I'm on a prescription potassium pill every other day and that's not quite enough when I'm dieting. Anyone know of high potassium foods per serving not per 100 G that are also low carb? Please do not recommend bananas. Not only are they not low carb but I do not like them. Unless they're in banana bread which is not low carb.

My doctor tracks my cholesterol and potassium and my cholesterol has been going in the right direction, I've had dramatic decreases in total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL; HDL is always a little bit of a struggle for me.

So, daughter's school has officially called Thursday and Friday as snow days. My cheat day will be Thursday only.

Update: My 1 cheat day turned into 3 days (Thur. - Sat.). It took me another 3 days to get back down to (almost) my previous weight (I'm .4 above it, but still at/below my goal. I'm going to stay strict until Sunday evening for a church chili cook-off, and then a planned Italian meal/event/meeting on Monday.
