Made my goal. Yay!! Now the question becomes do I do another game in July knowing I will be traveling and have less control of my schedule and food choices? I think I’m going to go for it! I love the added motivation. Anyone else doing another?

I say go for it. I traveled by air to Denver for a convention at the beginning of the month and went to my cousin's wedding this past weekend and I still made it. I think ultimately the goal is to be able to make sustainable lifestyle adjustments that we can be consistent about in a variety of settings. This is good practice. :)

I'm working my way through Couch to 5k again since it worked really well for me 12 years ago.

Today was the infamous Week5 Day3 session where you warm up for 5 minutes, jog for 20 minutes without stopping and then cool down for 5 minutes.

My energy is low today and I'm in kind of a bad mood. And the dreadmill is not my favorite. Didn't know if I was gonna make it, and was kind of fully planning to try again when I could run on a track or in the street, but I made it. All 20 minutes, no stopping. It feels kind of huge right now.

I have restarted couch to 5k a dozen times in the last couple years. Your post is motivating me to try again—thank you! And congrats on how far you’ve made it!

Gillian M.

Karen, that's great! Trust the process, repeat days if you need to. I'm cheering for you!

  • Happy Monday!

How was everyone's weekend? Did you celebrate Father's Day, spend time with family and friends, get outside, relax, or maybe just survive a busy few days?

We’re officially in the final week of the game!!! This week is all about consistency, not trying to make up for lost time. Keep doing what's been working. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Share 1 thing that has been working for you these past 3 weeks.

Consistently going to the gym 4 days a week. Making my way through couch to 5k and lifting.

I've been making more conscious food choices - reducing excess sugar, listening more closely to my body when I am feeling snacky, and incorporating more vegetables.

Gillian M.

I tend to be a late evening eater - i have adhd and sometimes don't notice hunger signals during the day, especially on days when I take my meds, and I'm locked in on doing other stuff. I'm less likely to notice hunger until later when I've gotten home from the gym (my husband and i often go together after he gets home from work). I'm still running a modest calorie deficit though, so it's still working for me. And as a night owl, I'm seldom going to bed right after even a pretty late dinner, so my food has a chance to be fully digested.

I'm not, by any means, contradicting what is working for other members, but just wanted to note that it's possible for us night owls too. :)

  • Happy Father's Day weekend!

For some, it's a weekend of celebrating. For others, it's just another summer weekend. Either way, I hope you're finding some time to relax, recharge, and enjoy yourself.

If your weekend includes cookouts, restaurants, road trips, or family gatherings, remember that balance is key. Enjoy the moments, stay hydrated, get a little movement in when you can, and keep your momentum going.

Most importantly, don't forget we're getting close to the finish line. Every choice doesn't have to be perfect, just keep showing up for yourself.

What does everyone have planned this weekend?

Oh my way to a 5k! I'm on week 5 day 2 of couch to 5k. Feeling a lot more prepared than I was for my 0 prep, right after having the flu 5k in February. Hoping to drop about 10 minutes lol. (Me, a former half marathon runner before that last 5k: it's just a 5k, how hard could it be? ?)

Update: dropped 10:52 from my February time. Followed C25k for the first 2 miles, and then ran when it felt good to run and walked when I needed to walk for the last mile.

:joy: I completely understand. I hope you had a great race

Gym time makes me feel good. Scale just doesn't want to cooperate

That's frustrating for stuff like diet bet, but working out because it feels good is a great reason to keep doing it and the scale will move on its own time. Especially if you are just getting back into exercise and you're building muscle, it can take a while for the scale to start moving because you're re-compositioning. You are probably burning fat, but also building muscle, which is denser than fat. So you can tone up a fair amount without the scale budging at all. Focus on non- scale victories like feeling better, getting stronger and clothes fitting better. Keep up the great work and don't get discouraged

I have been going slow and steady which has been good but I am traveling to go to a World Cup game this week and struggling with how can I stay on track vs not letting anything stop me from getting the full once in a lifetime experience. Because of timing, I will most likely have to eat festival or stadium food and may not have an opportunity to workout as I have been. Lots of time sitting that I have been trying to avoid with the exception of my workday. Any suggestions welcome!

One thing you can do when you get to your destination is find a grocery store and pick up stuff for healthy breakfasts and snacks that you can keep in your hotel/Airbnb and bring along with you. Bonus, food from a grocery store will probably also be more cost effective than restaurants and stadium vendors.

HOW FUN! My advice isn't the best but I say enjoy it! Sweat out the extra calories? I'm sure the games are hot lol. Seriously though, water, water, and more water! And do your best to walk and see some sights.

I am doing well and being steady, but struggling to push myself that step further in order to really make an impact on losing lbs. I think I need to up my calorie burning exercises. How's everyone else doing?

I always find that after a good run, stairmaster session, bicycle session or rowing session and a force hydration of about 24 ounces of water before 12pm, the next day my weight has gone down. For me it’s intensity workouts along with increase water intake to flush my system and ONE meal a day. Fasting for about 12+ hours really helps as well.

Gillian M.

I've made some dietary changes and really increased my activity level - couch to 5k, and weight training at the gym. I'm very much in the recomposition phase. My clothes are fitting looser. I'm losing inches. I'm feeling stronger, and I'm able to lift heavier and do more reps than before. My cardiovascular condition is getting better. The scale isn't moving much. Trying to stay focused on the non-scale fitness victories.
