  • I've been doing dietbets on and off since my 2nd child was born in 2012 (and I have 4 kids.) This will be my last dietbet, as it's finally truly become a lifestyle change for me and I'm now in the process of getting skin removal surgeries. This bet was one final push to get a bit leaner before surgery. The first photo was Jan 2017 after my 4th child was born, and the second photo was last month, 87 lbs pounds between them.

My biggest piece of advice is that weight loss is not a one and done, it's a lifelong commitment to better health and feeling better about yourself. If a diet is temporary, sure you'll lose weight, but if you go back to eating like "normal" after your diet, your body will go right back as well. The key is in creating a new normal that will sustain your new body. Find healthier alternatives to your favorite foods, make yourself eat healthy foods until your tastebuds change and you actually enjoy eating healthy, allow treats for special occasions but realize that not every occasion is special, figure out how to fit movement into your everyday schedule, lift heavy things a few times a week, and always speak to yourself with a loving growth mentality.

I'm not an Instagram influencer, but if you want to see the results of my skin removal you can find me @better_habits_for_real_life

I might add - I'm anxious to learn more about your skin removal surgery. I know I will need it when I get to where I want to be, but I'm not sure how that will happen.

Congratulations Angie. Inspirational stuff.

I'm curious how much protein people are shooting for and Why?

I'm usually around 60 - 70 grams per day which accounts for about 15% of my total calories. As a vegan it's hard for me to get protein and sources such as Dr Gregor and the PCRM podcast say things along the lines of we really don't need as much protein as people think. But I'm open to other opinions, I really want to preserve muscle this time around, even if it does slow my progress a bit.

I shoot for 80 based on my age, height and weight. This was recommended by friend who is a RD. I’m not a vegan but enjoy vegetarian meals. Have you tried soy curls from Butler’s? You can buy it direct in bulk and freeze it.

Hi Dkwangok, I'm not familiar with soy curls, they look good though.
