This dietbet win is not looking good =/ have gained so much weight from being sick and then the loss of my grandma. Eating out because of funeral stuff and family gatherings, not moving my body enough, not drinking enough water.....just being super honest....have not really been trying as much as I should be.=( I have to lose 11 lbs in 17 days!!!!! Thats a lot! Im gonna do my best and not give up but not beat myself up either. Who else is having a hard time during this dietbet?

I am going to have to be so strict on myself and its going to be very hard because next week is teacher appreciation week which means full of treats, coffee, breakfast, lunch, etc.

Give yourself some grace…you’ve been through a lot, and that matters more than a number. The fact that you’re still showing up says everything. Don’t focus so much on the 11 lbs try to focus on the next right choice. Refocus where you can: more water, a little movement, better choices when possible. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Proud of you for being real about it.

  • I offered today’s workout for my grandmother, who set such a beautiful example of healthy living. I’m not aware that she ever followed a diet or workout plan, but she always prioritized eating balanced meals, taking long walks with friends, and cultivating joy in herself and in her family. One of my favorite memories is of her teaching me to dance to the big band music she loved as a girl. So, that was my workout soundtrack this morning. Wishing everyone an encouraging song in their hearts today :)

  • This childhood favorite is one of my meal prep staples. I make a big batch on the weekend and it stores well through the week. I enjoy it on everything from sautéed greens to eggs!

Hi Sharon! Yes :) I just eyeball the proportions, but basically you sauté some onion in olive oil until it starts to soften, then add some chopped garlic and bell pepper. Let those soften a bit and then add the beans. I used just black beans here, but a mix is nice too. Then add salt, pepper, vinegar, and spices to taste (I used just cayenne pepper, but my mom always used cumin too). I also like some coconut aminos for sweetness, but monkfruit or sweet potatoes would work too. It’s very cozy and comforting!
