How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Well, I did it! My first half marathon, with a finish time of 02:11:21. I placed 865 out of 2012 females and 80 out of 164 for my age category 45-49.

It’s not too often that I feel proud of myself; much less verbalise it to others. But I genuinely do today because I’ve worked hard for these results. Just over a month ago, I’d never run more than half the distance I ran this morning. A little over a year ago my BMI fell in the Obese range (when I first started running I was obese) & now I’m fast approaching a return to a healthy BMI. Whatsmore, less than four years ago I was drinking 1-2 bottles of wine a night and struggled to go more than a day or two without.

Today I’m 1316 days alcohol free AND a “runner” (I still feel a bit sheepish typing that as I never would have thought of myself as being or able to be a runner, but after this morning’s effort I think I can confidently own that I’m a recreational runner now).

Thank you for the encouragement I received on here in the lead up & the inspo from fellow DietBet members who are runners (special shout-out to Karla) ?

Crossing the finish line is the validation for all the changes you have made to this point. It speaks of your resolve to change, and your discipline to follow through. You have every right to call yourself a runner!
