When making meals, use smaller plates and watch portion sizes. Eat slow, and appreciate the flavors and textures of your meals.

It definitely takes effort and willpower. I find it's hardest in the beginning because you're breaking a habit, but it does get easier! Try brushing your teeth after a meal so you won't want to keep snacking. Find distractions to keep yourself busy - read, journal, go for a walk, or learn a new hobby to keep your hands and mind busy :)
