How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Does this actually work?

Out of 1,039,224 DietBetters, 94.21% have lost weight during their challenges. Combined, they've lost 20,109,026 lbs and won $101,121,996. In other words...yes.

All results shown on DietBet are from actual users. Individual results may vary.

Don't take our word for it

OMG, I need to vent! I just spoke with a good friend who is co-hosting a block party today in her neighborhood near mine. They are expecting about 100 people, bringing foods of every description including tons of desserts!!! She wanted to know if I was coming and I said No, because I'm finishing up a DietBet and wouldn't be able to eat any of it. Her response was to say, "Oh come on! Use a little self-control! It will be fun!" I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying the obvious... NOT coming IS using my self-control! Family and friends may love us, but they're not always very supportive!

Good for you to set a boundary and respect it! There will always be saboteurs in our lives and it's up to us to figure out how to manage ourselves in response to them
