  • Morning folks, happy check in day! First challenge in the books for me. After a week of bouncing up and down on the scale, came in this morning just about a half pound under goal. Feeling pretty excited about setting a goal and sticking to it. Hopefully everyone found some measure of success through this process, be it meeting a final weigh in goal or just better habits through the journey (I know I had a solid 180 from how I was living during the holidays). Heading into the home stretch! Hopefully everyone’s still on track. After busting ass and being disciplined with food choices for the past few weeks, I was lucky enough to hit goal on Saturday morning (albeit an unofficial weigh in). I was really hustling to get there since we had Disney on ice for my daughter which meant lots of pics lol (I had told myself I couldn’t cut my hair or shave until I lost the weight so I was looking rough, I know the wife was happy). I then promptly had a weekend of fried and salty food (paired with just being flat out gassed from pushing) so I put back on a few pounds (ugh!). Hopefully it’s just water weight?!?!

Anyhow, after my little lapse in energy, got back into it with a double workout today. Hoping the scales are kind to me this week lol. Happy final week everyone, almost there!

Accountability post:

As we enter in to week 3, I hope everyone’s still hanging strong. I’m super proud of myself for staying in the fight. Even with returning to work just before the challenge started (was off for 2 months after the birth of my second child in October), and the chaos of having a tiny tyrant of a 2 year old running around, I’ve been still able to will myself to get a workout in 5 days a week (double workouts on the 5th day!) at 930 or 10 pm no less when by all rights I could just call it quits for the day. But I REFUSE to give up this time. It’s too important. My wife and kids are too important. My health is too important. Down 6lbs thus far, I know the gains (er, losses?) will plateau, so trying my best to soak in the wins while I can!

Biggest win thus far has been on the diet side. Prior to starting I was having something sweet with every single meal. And in between meals when I would get bored. The holidays only exacerbated that with all the candy’s and cookies and treats around. In the last 2 weeks I had 2 cheat days: a pre planned trip for gelato with our oldest, and my buckeyes played in the CFP natty. Outside of those 2 days, all I had was 2 (yes, only 2) gummy bears, no other sweets. I’ve replaced the Rolos and peppermint bark with carrots, apples, and nuts.

As an added incentive, I decided I’m not allowed to cut my hair or shave until I lose 10 lbs. looking real scruffy right now lol.

@Karen I bought so many boxes and found myself doing the same thing! This year, I’m planning to buy JUST ONE box and if I see any booths I’m going to buy boxes to donate. Anyone can do that, so you can still support their sales without having to have boxes at home that sap your willpower!

Really excited to have found this app to get that extra bit of motivation and (more importantly!) accountability. I just had my second child, so now I’ve got a 2 year old and a 3 month old who I know are going to run me ragged. Since the pandemic I’ve been packing on the pounds (shifted to working from home; read: free access to constant snacking). I’ve had mild success here and there getting it off, but never any real lasting commitment. I’m at my heaviest now and am feeling like my body is breaking down and telling me STOP! So time to get to work. Good luck everyone!

@Carmey M, I just signed up for the Beachbody, buy one year get one free. I’m gonna do the T25 series, which is only 25 min workouts, so I know I can do that. I’m a night owl anyway, so plan to do them once we can get the kids down around for bed. Then through the day eliminate snacks. I threw out all the junk food from the holidays already! Got a big Stanley for more water intake. From there cross our fingers and hope for the best lol. Good luck in your journey!
