  • Here’s to cardiovascular health! How is everyone going in Round 4? Perhaps we can share tips and strategies for maintaining motivation?

    For me I feel like I’m doing well on the exercise front (it definitely helps having an upcoming half-marathon to prepare for). I’m being consistent with it, plus increasing intensity and challenge as I go. My diet is less consistent, however, and I find myself succumbing to temptation more than what I did in the earlier rounds eg yesterday I bought an almond croissant with my morning coffee. I think I need to guard against “rationalising” bad food choices because of the running I’m doing, as I’ll quickly cancel out any energy deficit! Plus I know that, active or inactive, pastries aren’t going to do me any favour/deliver any nutritional benefits…

Mowing is my main form of exercise. It gets my heart rate up and I can walk at a pace that is comfortable for my knee. It's helping me slowly build up strength in both knees, but especially the one that was most recently replaced.

I fell off the walking habit bc of finals but am slowly getting back into the groove! I have hot yoga and lots of walking in the horizon for today :)

Some tips - get a ClassPass! You can get 30 days gratuitous and book many classes and try different studios out without having to pay their memberships. You can also book spas for facials and massages when you pay full price. I’m getting two months to try it out and see if I’d rather jump around than go to a traditional gym. It’s helping me look forward to exercise as it’s not the same thing over and over.

I regained 2-3 lb for no reason 😬 perhaps stress interfering? But definitely not making the cutoff for this round. 😢

Too true… & I’ve never had to throw out cookies because they are past their best before date :joy: Although cookies-& similar products-ARE in part guilty for leaving ME in a ‘less than ideal’ condition. Salad, however, is not!

I started a new medication and I gained 6 lb. :( I am 5 lb away from the round 3 goal! Don’t think I’ll make it.

Right now I'm aiming for the round 2 goal. I'm going to pretend it's because I had a small surgery last month, but really it's because I love Easter candy. At least the weather is nicer so I've been doing some gardening and yard work.

I took a 6 day break from my 10k steps a day and am finding it hard to get back on track! I also gained 4 lbs from my lowest which is so infuriating!!! I am on my cycle so I hope it’s just temporary. Onto round 3 ?

I was up 6 pounds from my weigh-in for the Kickstarter that finished just before our round 2 ended here. It's frustrating! I know it will correct itself, but I want it now!

It can be really hard to “get back into it” once we’ve taken a break, can’t it? When I’m struggling to get going in the mornings for my run, I always remind myself that getting out the door is half the battle and that not once after a run have I regretted it. Oh, & that time of month can be brutal on the scale, for sure! I had a 4 pound fluctuation last month in the course of one day! Fortunately, any period “gain” does seem temporary. Good luck getting moving again, you can do it! You know you want to :wink:

I made my goal weight (just barely). I was 0.2 under the goal. I was so paranoid that the weigh in wouldn’t be accepted (because of all the technical glitches). I waiting 2 hours to be verified before I ate something. It was a squeaker, but glad to be on the other side.

Congrats to those who made (or are going to make it tomorrow!) and let’s hear it for those pressing on even if there’s a bump in the road.

  • What's your favorite non scale victory this round?
    I have a few, from some of my clothes fitting a bit better (just the last few days!), to diet and exercise victories.

    Having less cravings and feeling more in control of what I put in my body is definitely my favorite NSV this month!

    I am living by these 4 principles in this quote, though still not good at tracking, but focusing on habit building and doing the healthy things I enjoy, or at least feel most capable of and some I come to enjoy!

    Thank you to those of you who were there for me while I was posting about resisting my baked bread etc, just posting when I know my resolve was weakening helped me feel more accountable! It's part of what helps me believe I can do this, because I'm part of such a great community here!

I was so close to hitting round 1 goal, but I can’t control my body. I stayed consistent and didn’t make it on time, but I do have to give credit to my body today because although I haven’t lost much in the past month, I am wearing shorts that are almost falling off! Recomp is real even at the beginning of your journey.

My face is clear and I get asked if I’m 19 LOL! I haven’t gotten that since I gained weight three years ago. I’m in my early 30s :grin:

I also am sleeping more soundly, my legs are looking muscular if I may say, and my bras are fitting better and some are now too big. I’m eating clean minimally processed foods (chicken, mushrooms, broccoli, rice, etc) and I feel so good. It’s also about the quality of life you’re living. And I’m also hitting 9-10k steps a day now, and it’s easy peasy. Might have to jump to 10-11k as my new goal!

I love that for you Thalia! It's hard just barely missing the round goal, but you sound like you are right on the money with your health goals!
