How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

Weighed-in just past my round 5 goal this morning by a tenth of a pound. Surprised and happy since I had been carrying up to 8lbs of water weight from a heavy workout week of 2 workouts/day M-W (dropped 5lbs since Friday morning). I still have some soreness and can tell my legs are still carrying some water weight, but hoping to have another little drop tomorrow morning as well.

Just so it’s clear, it’s only a 1lb drop from last Sunday, my weekly weigh-in day. I’ve been weighing myself everyday for over a decade to understand my weight fluctuations and how everything can have an effect. As a data driven person this is a good thing for me, but is definitely not something that everyone should do.

When you approach the data in a healthy manner and don't let it overly excite and overly depress you, it helps you to see what habits work and what do t.

I found out that I can lose weight between going to bed and waking up if I have seven hours sleep and if I worked out and if I eat three hours or more before I went to bed. But if I don't get sleep or if I don't give myself some time to digest before going to bed , I actually see that even if I do all the other good habits, it doesn't help me..

Trying to fast in a healthy way between 7 PM and 11 AM, trying to get seven hours sleep, trying to drink lots of water and green tea, and trying to get to the gym at least 4 to 5 days a week , and walking at least 15,000 steps seems to be what works for me

Sleep plays a big role in losing weight. I also generally don’t see the scale drop with less than 7 hrs of sleep. But you also need to be able to differentiate between actual weight gain and water weight. You have to eat an additional 3500 calories above your maintenance caloric intake to gain a pound of fat. Water, waste, sleep, muscle soreness, medication, inflammation, and so many things can cause upward fluctuations of the scale. So the day to day is less important than the weekly trend. I watch the scale go up Monday-Friday because of how my leg muscles hold water from working out. It generally takes me a 30 hr rest period after a week of working out to drop that water weight and the additional loss on top shows that I everything I did during the week did work despite the scale ticking up all week.
