How do you verify the weight loss?

For all official weigh-ins, you'll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Our standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper.

What you'll need

  • A scale (preferably digital)
  • A digital camera or smartphone
  • A full-length mirror or someone to take your photo

New to this. What do we do other than report weigh ins? Any food tips or tracking of anything?

There's no reporting other than weight :)

For food tracking I use an app called "My Net Diary". I think it helps to keep track of my eating, but the secret is to find what works for you. I used to spend a bunch of time making sure I had it accurate, but the app lets you take a picture and then uses that picture to determine what you ate. That's sufficient enough for me. I have no vested interest in this particular app and I'm sure there are a bunch of other choices, but this one works really well for me :)

For me, the secret is to avoid the things I know cause me to overeat. Snacking is my downfall and when I've done well on Diet Bet (this is not my first), the most crucial thing was to stop that. Next is watching my portion size. I like the Japanese practice of stopping at 80% full. I'm not good at judging that, so I go with 80% of what I would normally eat :)

Great ideas Robert! I was just chiming in to say the same about the bet- there’s not any food tracking here but there is this community! I find community support to be so helpful on my weight loss journey. Yall give me meal ideas, motivate me to workout, and inspire!!
