  • I’ve been plateaued for a week, but my food and activity habits have been pretty consistent, and it really looks like I should be in a calorie deficit. (Breakthrough coming maybe??) I am prepping to leave for 5 days of camping next to Lake Tahoe, and while I am excited for all the family time and paddle boarding and hiking in my favorite spots…. I have no idea what effect this will have on my health goals. Bears are extremely active there, so rules are tight on how food is stored, so I will probably snack less. But I might also overeat because there’s zero time to listen to hunger cues: you just pick a time, prep a meal for the family, and we all have to eat it immediately or trash it, and then clean up/lock up everything instantly to avoid fines and bear risk. It’s a weird way to live, but a beautiful place, and I have needed this quiet time with the family. Hoping I can just CHILL OUT, and it will all work out. (Pic from a prior trip there)

Try not to stress! The lake looks beautiful. Hopefully some chill out time with family, an inability to graze, and lots of movement will make that scale move in the right direction. Try to just relax and enjoy each moment.

I threw my back out Tuesday afternoon and have been out of commission all week. I slid backwards in my progress and need someone to come smack the junk out of my hand since I’m totally stress eating. Aaaahhhhh!!!

I have been loving a streaming workout lately, but this week I haven’t been carving out the time for it. I keep getting to 5pm without finding a window for it, and I really don’t like to exercise in the peak heat of the day, or near bedtime once it cools off. I’m setting an intention to do it first thing in the morning tomorrow, before anything can get in the way.

Super stressful weekend after a big storm. No power for four days. Didn't eat everything in the fridge and freezer, even though that would have saved it. Haha

I have a goal to take a walk after dinner all week. I like how I feel mentally and physically when I do it, but I couch rot instead pretty often.

I want to get to 3 servings of veggies per day this week. Last week I consistently got 2 per day. Also, increasing water from 2 full water bottles to 3.

I've been making faux-tato salad for several years now - potato salad recipe with cauliflower in lieu of potatoes. My non-low carb family also love it!

  • What are we all doing this weekend?? I had a lot of family events in the last 3 weeks that drained me (all the stress of balancing work with 10,000 family requests and schedule interruptions!). So I’ve avoided making plans, but I hope to figure out something fun and active. Any ideas?

Fireworks are rare where I live (California, where fire danger often makes them illegal), so I would have to plan to find one and fight crowds for it, at a place like Lake Tahoe. I also have some National Parks in driving distance, they have free admission for the celebration of the 250th, but also serious crowds that leave nowhere to park your car to take any of those epic hikes and all. I just don’t have any good ideas.
