  • Happy Friday! We made it.

Here's something to think about this weekend: pay attention to your "might as well" moments. You know... "I already had one cookie, might as well have five." Or "I missed my walk, might as well skip the whole day." Those little thoughts can do way more damage than the cookie or the missed workout ever could.

Catch yourself when that mindset shows up and hit reset. Your next choice matters way more than your last one.

What does everyone have planned this weekend? Any fun summer adventures, or are you keeping it low-key?

'Might as well' is a slippery slope. I definitely struggled yesterday evening and slipped into a might as well mindset. However... normally... before... I would definitely let the 'might as well' progress and take up a whole weekend to have a fresh start on Monday. As if there is anything special about Mondays specifically... This time around - no! Got right back on that horse immediately. It's taken a lot of falling off previously to learn to get back on track again immediately...
But you know... Might as well ;) (get back on track I mean lol)

Lol. I see what you did there. Seriously though, way to go. Have an awesome rest of your weekend

  • What keeps you excited and motivated? Remember to find something you enjoy doing! If you look forward to your workout then it's a lot easier to keep it up. Make it fun, and change it up!

What is your go-to workout? Do you like to hike, bike, swim, walk, hit the gym, zone out on the treadmill watching Netflix...........?
How did the first day of the fitness challenge go for you? Let us know what you did, and give us some ideas of what workouts you like to do, and also keeps you motivated.

I like doing incline treadmill with youtube on my rest days. Otherwise I like doing Chloe Ting's programs, they've helped me in the past and seem to be working well for me this time around as well! I've also enjoyed going to the gym before but prefer at home workouts :)
What keeps me motivated are all the little changes that I can see and feel. Both in my fitness levels but also in my body overall ? It's worth 'grinding' for!

Amanda

I enjoy walking while watching/listening to YouTube videos. I participate in StepBet games to keep me motivated.

So, I managed to "gain", completely freak out, do a deep dive googling session about what to do... Only for this apparently imaginary weight to disappear as mysteriously as it appeared...
I swear... Don't play me like this 😭

I'm not sure.. I did switch them afterwards just in case, but it just jumped up and then back down the next day and luckily.. fingers crossed.. been only going down since.. fluctuation is normal but it got me spooked

I already met my goal weight. But now I have to at least maintain it until the end of this game. Maintaining is just as hard as losing in my opinion, because it is the same thing as losing. It is all about a lifestyle that actually works long term. But since I do have more weight to lose, I will just keep focusing on losing more weight. Yay!

Congratulations!!!!
I really think maintaining is harder even... Losing it "easy" but maintaining.. and living everyday life.. that's kind of tough and something I seem to clearly struggle with...

Soooo, I’ve been doing the Dukan diet, which starts with 2-5 days of nothing but meat/ fish/ proteins plus a little oat bran… was going very well until I decided to have a little ice cream to counter the heat… obviously that turned into a tub of ice cream, several chocolate ice creams, then several chocolate bars… not ideal. Plan now is to alternate pure protein and protein and veg days… I’m aware that the Dukan diet is not ideal but aside from the ice cream/ chocolate binge, my diabetes has been incredibly well managed since I started so just need to keep up this momentum!

One bad day doesn't erase all the good work! As long as you get back at it the day after, you will be okay! You got this ??

  • Happy Monday! How did everyone's first weekend go? Did you stay on track, enjoy a fun treat, get extra steps in, or just survive the weekend chaos? We want to hear it all.

Here's one easy thing to try this week: Set your alarm for the next day's movement the night before. It doesn't have to be a big workout. A planned 20-minute walk beats an "I'll do it later" every time.

How are you feeling heading into Week 2?

Sabs , Eelika Helmik J. , Jordan M. and Andrea like this photo.

Not going to lie. Over the weekend my motivation and energy levels plummeted hardcore while my appetite seemed to be through the roof. I kept on hanging in there and pushing through and it seems to be somewhat stabilising now. BUT! I enjoy a daily ice cream currently, all within limits of course. Hate and love how flexible counting calories and macros actually really is. Normally I don't treat myself much like that, but this heatwave is asking for it and I really look forward to it after a full day of sweating ?
My plan for this upcoming week is to make my rest days more active and HOPEFULLY get the workout done in the morning instead of waiting for everyone to go to sleep :| (3 under 3)

  • Happy Friday! We made it to the first weekend of the game.

Weekends don't have to derail your progress. You can absolutely enjoy yourself and still stay on track. The biggest difference is usually having a plan before the weekend starts instead of trying to make decisions when you're already hungry, busy, or out with friends.

    A few easy reminders:

-Keep a water bottle nearby, especially if you're out in the summer heat.
-Build your meals around protein and veggies, then enjoy the fun foods without feeling like you have to "earn" them.
-Get some movement in, even if it's just a walk around the neighborhood, a trip to the farmers market, or playing outside with the kids.
-Don't let one meal turn into "I'll start over Monday." One choice is just one choice.

If you have a little time this weekend, prep a few meals or snacks for next week. Future you will be very thankful.

What does your weekend look like?

Sabs , Deb B. and Eelika Helmik J. like this photo.

My weekend looks like trying to keep everyone alive and everything together T-T. + There's a heatwave currently :| weekends for me are by far the most stressful and tiring currently, I'm just glad I'm keeping up with my water intake now and exercise!

DietBet Gina

Haha. I know the feeling well. Keep it up! Water and movement are crucial

Today, I was was pretty darn exact with my calories and macros. To reduce my decision making fatigue, I think i will just repeat what I did today for two more days since I really enjoyed the meals. After that I will basically stick to the same plan, but can substitute things out for variety if I want to. My favorite protein bar is Dark brand Chocolate Mint flavor. I am keeping it in mind in case I need a "cheat" that won't sabatoge me.

Exactly, Eelika! Protein shakes are amazing. Every morning for breakfast, I make a coffee protein shake. Do you make yours or buy it?

Eelika Helmik J.

We get the powder and then make it into a shake, yeah! My husband has also made pancakes out of it, which were delicious! It's so versatile really. Sometimes I'd have it with greek yoghurt for example. Delicious!
