  • I attempted grocery shopping today but the extreme winds and fires have caused power outages in my area of California. It was déjà vu COVID era all over again. I went home with a jicama, cucumber, cantaloupe and a fresh loaf of bread. I should lose some weight on that diet this week. Happy weight loss!

This is my first ever weigh-in where I've not made the round goal... AND I didn't skip the weigh-in or quit the game.
I'm owning what was actually a gain in the last two months and then finally a loss that brought me down a whole net .5 lbs. 😅
I'm feeling like I'm finally on the right page to get this job done! Owning it and moving on and forward.

Keep going, Carol! The stretch from Thanksgiving to New Year's is usually the toughest for me weight-wise, and I think for many people. It gets easier from here on in, especially when we get past the next weigh in.

Part of the reason I chose to do this now was to at least restrain my eating some during the holidays. Even if I didn’t lose, at least I wouldn’t gain as much. If I were at the office more, it would have been 10 times harder. Like you said, move forward!

I’ve had problems in the past with maintaining my weight after a loss. I’m more optimistic than usual this time because I don’t have as many food cravings as I used to. (You know, like - once I lose the weight I’m going to eat ____!) But I still need a plan. I just started doing run / walk intervals last week because I have never been able to run continuously for a 5K - I’ve probably never run a whole mile continuously. That’s my new goal. :-)

For me too, maintaining weight loss has proven to be the biggest problem in the past. I hope to have better success with that this time, with a tentative plan. Best wishes to you with that issue!

How is everyone doing? I didn’t visit family this Christmas, so I wasn’t surrounded by the traditional sweets and tempting dishes (broccoli cheese casserole). We will be visiting family in January and February, so I’ll need to stay strong then. What is the food that wrecks your diet plans during the holidays?

It's not so much a particular food that threatens to be my undoing as social gatherings where heavy food consumption is expected. Plenty of those this month. That said, ice cream is my favorite!

Alcohol is usually my downfall over the holidays. Double whammy due to its own calories and the relaxed inhibitions and subsequent snacking that follows. Oof.

I initially wasn't able to access the app on my phone, so felt a moment of panic, but the issue was resolved very quickly, for which I am grateful. Onward to the month of festivity and, oftentimes, overeating (but not this month!).

I’ve had problems adding photos in the middle of a submission, but I close it and reopen and then it works. But I still freak out each time, thinking I’ll have to start over.

I need just a little bit more to make this month’s goal (after thanksgiving and my birthday). I think my mom is out to get me. I heard her order a cake when I asked her not to and she just brought home 4 bags of Cheetos and a box of club crackers. Just had cottage cheese for lunch and salmon and broccoli is planned for dinner. One pie. E of cake is all I’m allowing myself even though it’s Black Forest

I think getting away from the monthly birthday cake at work helped me a lot back when we started working from home. Have lots of vegetables before the cake to help you stick to one piece.
