Something to note about workouts: more or longer isn’t always better.

It’s easy to get into a mentality that you need to workout 60-90 minutes to really make any weight loss progress, especially when you’re up against a short time table, like this DietBet. But remember that it’s all about finding the balance between your calorie intake and workouts. You do not need to kill yourself physically, thinking that will help. In fact, it can hinder results, like creating more inflammation in your body and/or retain more water because your body is trying to recover. This also goes for double workouts in a day.

Instead, focus on a SOLID workout that may be closer to 30-60 minutes (max). You’ll be able to push yourself harder since it’s a shorter amount of time, while still getting a solid burn. Remember as well, that muscle activation from weight lifting does increase your caloric burn throughout the day vs. just cardio. 😉👍

I sit most of the day for work. I have found that a 45 minute walk, even if it’s broken up throughout the day and a shorter focused workout 30-45 minute is a sweet spot for me.

Somedays all I do is walk though too. I have been dealing with a muscle spasm in back lately so walking has been my primary.

Hi everyone, my daughter is getting baptized on Sunday and we're hosting a big party with all the usual party foods. Anyone have tips about if it's better to plan on a cheat day or try to prepare separate healthier food for myself?

Always have a veggie and fruit platter :) those help you stay on track. I’d recommend a treat day, but try not to over do it

This probably won’t help much for this event but over time I’ve gently pushed my family towards better options at parties and holidays (“don’t we have enough carbs/casseroles? Could someone bring another veggie? I don’t think we need 4 desserts…could you bring a fruit tray?”) We end up with a better mix of healthy/less healthy options.

Nutrition Tip!

While you are tightening up your nutrition and cutting calories to lose weight, you may find yourself extra hungry. Adding extra veggies is a great way to bulk up your meals for very few calories and keep you full.

*Reminder! DON'T add extra butter, cheese, sauces etc. to your veggies because that will add extra calories. DO add some spices or hot sauce if you need a little extra flavor with your vegetables.

Where are the recipes located?

The food has been amazing so far. I did get hungrier, but I checked out the snack list and grabbed some of those options to have on hand. Thank you for the tips!

Half of your body weight in ounces. If you have a physical job and/or are outside in the sun then add some more.
