  • I posted earlier about being finally cleared to ride a stationary bike after a car accident - and I found an awesome solution and had to share.

    (Dealing with this accident has been a parttime job on its own, and time is my constraint)...

    ANYWAY

    I was able to make a 199$ bike off amazon into a work bike!! I even connect to second monitor (TV)

    I have a stool with folding legs that nestled perfectly onto the top of the bike, then i attached a lap desk with frog snot (like a double sided tape) to the stool.

    Not fancy - but I burned 300 calories while answering morning emails yesterday.

    ps please ignore the mess - I"m still not allowed to lift anything heavy since the accident so the bins etc can't move until I'm further down the road of recovery...

I have met my goal with 11 days left!!!
I started with the mindset that this is a year to make ME happy. No one else.

I’m tracking calories. I have drastically cut my drinking (100% sure this has been a huge factor in my weight and overall blah-ness)

I am being over to myself. And if I “fall off” not beating myself up. Which in the past only lead to “well.. already messed up. Might as well go all in”. I am
Being more accountable. And making time for myself!

I am so glad to share this journey with everyone here. We got this!

Finally got the confidence (and clearance) to take the boot-cast off long enough to submit my first weigh in, post foot rebuilding surgery. I have a long way to go…! That said, in PT yesterday, I took my first steps in two months…so I really am living the “one step at a time” journey!! This game—and the regaining of my health and strength—is a true marathon, not a sprint! Glad for everyone here 😊

  • Had my foot rebuilt in November after a year of wild and wonderful endurance events (and one major trail accident!!!). Likely won’t be able to walk for another month, let alone run or hike up those mountains! Meanwhile two months of almost no movement is taking its toll. I am looking forward to slowly getting back to moving and steadily losing the weight in a community of positivity. Here’s to a successful 2025…!

Keep your nutrition on target and ask your doctor if you are allowed to do seated or floor workouts like weight lifting, core workouts or cardio like bouncing on a yoga ball while swinging your arms, foot elevated.

Or TaeBo style boxing while sitting.

Paul Eugene on YouTube has lots of seated workouts - easy and advanced.

@Biking Syl thanks so much for the Paul Eugene rec—love it! He’s so happy and upbeat. No yoga ball or balance exercises for a while because I can’t chance a fall (it would shatter my foot), but PT started a week ago and I’m also soon to start swimming as part of that.

Now to dial in that nutrition…!
