So let me share a little bit about me.

Disclaimer: I’m not trying to offend anyone. This is about me and me only.

I have not blossomed, not bloomed, but ballooned to 193 pounds. I have been living a life of stress and perimenopause for about 4 years. Between eating like crap, not sleeping and just being generally unhappy, I have absolutely let myself goooooo.

My 35 year high school reunions (I went to two schools during my childhood) are next year. I have decided THEY are the reason I need to make changes. It could be for my health, my family, my comfort, but truth be told, those reunions are my motivator.

I have joined more Dietbets in the last 10 years than I can count, I have given up hundreds of dollars, I have eaten more junk food and spent more time in recliners than any person ever should. But this time I am determined to make it stick. When I took my photos this morning I really realized how much I had let myself go.

I have started simply by cutting out the junk food and drinking probably 10 times more water than I had been (which was nearly zero ounces) each day. I’m going to make these two small changes for the first week and see where it gets me. I will add exercise and more vegetables to my diet as time progresses.

Thank you for your time and I wish luck to each and everyone of you.

I am so with you on this. I appreciate your vulnerability and honesty! I am feeling similarly to what you shared and it is time. Time for self care in whatever form benefits us…is how I see it. I’m rooting for us all!

I’m battling perimenopause too so I can totally relate. Great job getting motivated.

I find the dietbets where people chat in the comments and in the game feed more helpful and inspirational! Let's try to get it rolling! I'm excited that I've exercised for 3 days consecutively(started Sunday)! I hadn't done that in awhile. What's something that you've switched up since starting this bet?

Man, yes…. No nighttime snacking for me too, which is SO hard!

Yay! Keep up the great work! My fiancé and I are focusing on a higher protein way of eating. I have PCOS and he’s had the gastric sleeve so high protein is best for both of us.

  • Periods started yesterday and this morning I was still a little bloated and over my goal weight. I applied the advice I got in my post about it last week and did a really big cycling sweat session ( 2 rides of The Climb) and I lost 1.2 pounds of water. So I’m ending up 0,5 pounds under my goal! This challenge is really effective at helping stay motivated! Thank you Joel and Megan for hosting it and congratulations to everybody! :)

Yeah it didn't come on until a couple of hours ago. Too late for me to do it here in the UK so tomorrow it is.

Hello! I could use some advice… and I might not be the only one in this situation :) My menstrual cycle is 24-25 days, and the end of the challenge falls right on the day my cycle is expected to start—so the day I’ll be the most bloated. I’ve almost reached my goal and I’m very confident I’ll hit it by the end of the challenge, but since I tend to gain about 3–4 lbs due to hormonal fluctuations, I’m afraid the scale will say I didn’t make it on that particular day. Do you have any tips for reducing hormonal water retention without having to cut water intake for three days? Thanks in advance for your help!

Like others said - thanks for posting this! This is such a real thing and it messes with your mentality.

My only suggestion that may help (and that’s a maybe) is to plan to do sweat sessions right before you weigh in. One thing that helps me keep that bloat down is leaning more into cardio for the 3 days before I start so I’m not retaining as much water - I’m sweating it out.

I love lifting and hate cardio, so I usually avoid cardio if I can. But I also know that lifting sometimes makes us retain water after intense workouts, so cardio may help you flush some water weight out and help you hit the diet bet weigh in day. Worth a shot, right?

Good luck and no matter what, know that you’re on the right journey!

I have my Spartan races this weekend. I’ll make sure to medal Monday here. Until then, I’m MIA. Work, prerace dinner and all the things.

  • Has anyone else made a pizza? Keto wrap with no-sugar pasta sauce, spinach, shredded chicken, and mozzarella cheese. Would have added some bell pepper, but didn't want to cut up and saute. It was really good and quick!

  • Key lime protein smoothie today!
    1 c spinach
    1/2 c frozen zucchini
    1 c almond milk, unsweetened
    1 scoop vanilla Levels Whey
Tsp marshmallow extract (mostly because it taste less alcoholy to me than the vanilla we have)
    Tsp honey
    Tsp chia seeds
    Lime juice to taste

This is so refreshing and surprisingly filling. I'll likely add some nuts and fruit on the side.
