I was off to a great start but for over a week have not been rigid with my plan - and the scale shows it. I need to get motivated again and stay focused.

How is everyone else doing? Any tips?

I’ve been up and down but truly focused on health more than the scale

What helps me stay focused is focusing on things that bring me joy not just a distraction. For whatever reason distraction is never enough for me.

Additionally I’ll unplug. No tv no scrolling various apps.

Sometimes I try to go help someone else with something. That too keeps me in a healthy eating path. Don’t know the psychology behind it but it works for me.

Good tips above. I too have lost focus this last week or so. Been busy - travelling / leisure, but it makes it harder for me to choose healthy options. Had a lovely time but dreading jumping on the scales now!!

Found out that the bacteria in my intestines is still there. Being putting on double the dose, 4 times a day for two weeks along with a probiotic that survives antibiotics

Then medication that will repopulate my gut flora.

Not sure how this will impact weight but the focus is on healing as the priority.

Thankful there is an answer why I’ve been struggling to recover from before. I can’t until this is taken care of.

I’m confident this protocol will be successful

Must have been difficult to focus on anything else whilst you had health uncertainties. Glad you’re now on the right path to recovery.

Thanks Stuart! I felt like my entire identity outside of work was about my health. I’ve been working toward getting away from all that then this popped up

Thanks! I couldn’t be happier to have answers and work to finishing the healing process

I just got back from a ten day cruise and didn't gain any weight! I am so glad, now to lose a pound by next week.

Wahoo! Great job!

Cruises work like that for me too…: it’s all the walking we do on them!

Non scale victory

I noticed that I shaved off about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on my walking pace!

I used to think it was harder to eat well whilst travelling (food options on the road are generally terrible). But this weekend I wasn’t particularly restrained at home - I had the munchies and munched on a few things that don’t really serve me.

I’ve made progress on ‘what’ I eat (better default food choices) and have reduced snacking a fair bit - I should be ok to meet the Round 1 target at least - but my biggest enemy seems to be boredom. Or procrastination.

Need some tips to keep me moving please!

Have a look at your macros.
My partner snacks heavily, and the root cause is that he is not getting enough calories, protein, and fibre from his main meals. His snacks are usually empty calories that do not help him feel full (e.g. chocolate, cake, brownies, biscuits).
Then 'add rather than take away', so add something with protein and/or fibre to your snacks. Such as apple and peanut butter, or some fruit with chocolate or cake. See if that helps.
It may help you to figure out if you snack due to boredom, procrastination, use food to cope with stress, or are not getting enough calories, protein, and/or fibre from your main meals.

I am a world class procrastinator so I am trying to use that to my advantage by procrastinating the extra eating. That seems to be working at the moment.

  • 2/2 weekend hikes with the pup 🐶
Cool rock formation and pushed myself to a 4.5km/hr pace to burn 🔥 kcal and improve stamina. Quite a few inclines but I pushed through for goal achievement.
    Let's do this team 💪!

Well done @Sandra G! Love a good hike/long walk. Haven’t done one for a short while but (excuse warning) it’s been absolutely torrential rain for days here - no fun. 2 hikes next weekend??

Susie R.

Love that you have take your dog with you!

Although my focus has been on my health and not weight loss, it was frustrating stalling on weight loss early on.

After a month of no real movement on the scale (most likely due to a bacterial infection caused by all the original antibiotics) I finally see movement again in the right direction

Keep reminding myself that slow and steady is the way to go. Keep on keeping on so to speak.

I feel that having any setback isn’t ideal but life sometimes tosses in a wild card to keep things less boring and I’ve learned to roll with the punches

Hope everyone else is staying healthy

Setbacks seem to be part of the process. As you say, keep on keeping on

Joe

I agree with you and Stuart: Focus more on behavioural change and consistency than scale.
You can do this!

Today is the beginning of week 2 for me and I’m feeling motivate. Here’s how week one went:
*tracked every thing
*exceeded a 1000 calorie deficit every day
*met my exercise goals
*exceeded my step goal every day
*stuck to my diet plan (zero cheating)
*zero alcohol

I’m down 5lbs which I expect is mostly water weight. I do feel less bloated.

This week I will up my exercise plan, stick to diet plan and work on drinking more water (that’s always a challenge for me).

How is everyone else doing? Feeling good about your progress?

Great first week, well done! My progress is rather less impressive. I’m taking it day by day, and generally avoiding sugary snacks.

Soooo tempted for a bad meal choice tonight!!!! Fought the urge with rational thought and chose healthy alternatives after first weekend back in the DietBet saddle ?

Me too! Sticky toffee pudding on the menu - my go-to pud at any opportunity- but somehow I resisted. Not sure how. I also realise this is a US-dominated forum so my choice of dessert might not so familiar (I could be wrong)….

Kacky

Yayyy you! It hurts so good
