  • When you're actively trying to lose weight, do you prefer to cut back on sweets or cut them out completely?
    Personally, I find it easier not to take the first bite at all. But some people are able to satisfy their sweet tooth with just a small treat, like a square of dark chocolate.
    Which approach works best for you?
    In the long run, building a healthy lifestyle tends to be easier when you practice moderation instead of complete deprivation.

Moderation for sure- if I try to cut anything out completely it leads to an insane binge later

I struggle after the first bite - I’m okay until I give myself a cheat and then I get derailed so easily these days

  • Walks around the neighborhood have become a regular thing during this diet bet. Dinner was a Sweetgreen Salad, trying to work on those 5 servings a day! Good luck everyone!

@Kylie E. Yes, Sweetgreen is a business name! Though now I’m wondering if I should try making a salad with a variety of green fruits and veggies? I bet it would be delicious too!

Wow it’s amazing how much difference being consistent makes! I’ve been working on getting in 30 minutes of walking most days of the week and the distance I can travel in that time keeps increasing! It’s fun having a clear marker of improvement that’s not weight focused!

Hi, I need to lose about 60 pounds in about 6 months in order to have hip replacement surgery due to arthritis.

I'll be 62 in August and i have a need to lose almost 3 times that amount in order to be healthy. But getting that first 60 and the surgery done will help tremendously with the rest of the weight.

My weight loss difficulties have always been, I'm an emotional eater, struggle with keeping motivated and with movement. I struggle with hypothyroidism, anemia, blood pressure, depression, panic attacks, gluten intolerance... I do take medicines for everything except gluten. I just stay away from wheat products. I do like the more very low carb type of diet though have not gone so far as counting carbs and getting into keto. The low carb tends to help in eliminating the actual hunger. So I lean towards a ketovore style.

Ok, that's my bio. Sorry if I shared too much. I've done diet bets in the past and never shared in the comments. Most i quit or just missed the goal weight. Hoping this one will be better for me.

I made it! I overcame birthday dinners, business trips, Mother’s Day celebrations and my own fluctuating motivation to hit my target. I’m so proud at the changes I’ve made in my commitment to my health. The version of me from 6 months ago wouldn’t have stayed on track, but THIS me is ready to keep moving forward. Thank you to everyone in the group working on their goals along side me!! This really is such a mental game- progress over perfection :)
