Congratulations! Thank you for the motivation. You were a very fun part of this game. :muscle::sunglasses:

Stand on the scale without your phone. Have it open and within reach and take the pic when the weight stabilises.

  • About to weigh in, and I’m confident I’ve reached my goal. I have been absent posting and commenting here because things have gotten pretty tumultuous lately. Unexpectedly evicted from the apartment we’ve been in for 5 years. Even though the landlord gave us a long letter explaining his decision and reassuring us we were perfect tenants and he’s enjoyed having us here, appreciated our care of his property, and loved watching our boys grow, we were only given 30 days to find a new living situation. That somehow feels a bit like a punishment. It’s very stressful, and my anxiety is through the roof. 😵?💫
Typically I’m an emotional eater, so this could have derailed me. I’d love to say I stayed strong and made healthy choices in the face of my struggle, but the truth is that I’ve simply lost my appetite and in fact have had to force myself to eat even the bare minimum. 😞
So, I’ve made my goal and then some. At least I won’t lose my $ at a time when I’ll need it more than I expected to.
But I definitely DON’T recommend the eviction diet. 😔

stress diet is no good. take this win and find the next win, or just placing. Keep going, stay healthy, always make plans and appreciate what is in front of you. That’s the best i got without being too cliche. congrats!

DietBet Laura

Oh gosh, Lori, I'm sorry about the living situation. I recommend checking your local renter laws. Here in where we are in CA if you are being asked to leave and are not being evicted for cause, the landlord has to give you at least 60 days. I know it's not the same everywhere but knowing your rights is good anyway.
Good for you not giving in to stress eating! That's a battle I struggle with, too. It's a tough mental challenge to overcome but you can do it! Consider stress walking while watching a good tv show! :D
I hope that leaving your current home will lead you to an even better place!

Hey there, friends. I haven’t introduced myself yet because I’ve been having a hard time getting into the swing of this. I’ve been struggling with my weight for most of my adult life. I’ve had ups and downs and lots of things that have contributed - having kids, depression, poor work/life balance, etc.. . Now I’m about to turn 45 and facing pre-menopause, and I’m just feeling like it might be now or never! I joined this DietBet looking for some stronger motivation and incentive. I’ve had success here in the past and I’m desperate to get on track, but it’s been a hard start. I want to feel comfortable in my body - physically and mentally. I want to be healthy for my family, and be able to teach my children better life habits than those I’ve had for a long time.
I know what to do, I just don’t know how to make myself start. 😣

Typing this out was the first step! My nutritionist always says make your next meal your next healthy choice! Drink 16 oz of water before every meal and make veggies most for lunch and dinner <—all that comes from my nutritionist, and it’s working for me!

You’re in the right place. I’m also 44 and it’s become so much harder in the last few years to keep the weight off. The only way I know I’ll stick to this is doing diet bet. I hate losing money lol! Otherwise there’s just always an excuse

  • I used to be able to do 5 miles on the elliptical and barely break a sweat. When I went back to the gym exactly 2 months ago, I set a goal for myself to hit 5 miles again by the end of this year. Today, I did 3.5 miles -- and had to stop myself because I could have kept going. Looking forward to killing my goal!

Getting on the scale the morning after a long day of work and salty food can make you doubt your progress. That extra water retention feels like betrayal, but really it’s just your body warning you: take care of yourself. Eat better, rest, hydrate. Don’t neglect your body while chasing other goal; you’re going to need it when you get there.

Focus on the basics: food, sleep, water, and then exercise. Yesterday’s choices are behind me. Today I can do better. Let’s go!

  • It’s only week two, but I’m making massive progress already! Sticking to my plan of water first, veggies most. Tracking every bite. :) got my workout in, but still need steps for today since the workout was a lifting circuit!

  • Ate too well Friday night. ????? I got trapped in a cookie bag left on kitchen counter. I drank a few beers at the pool. I did exercise 4 times and did a bike ride at 6AM to the track. Did cartwheel video to compete against an 8 3/4 year old girl who didn’t believe I could. Let’s go!

Love your cartwheel!!! Back on track (haha) today! At least the cookies are gone? ;)

You seem to have such a positive attitude though, I’m sure that helps even when you have small setbacks. That’s very inspiring. Thank you for sharing!

  • Happy Monday, everyone! It’s the start of Week 2, and you've all done an amazing job getting here.

To kick things off, here's a fun fact you might not know: a serving of strawberries (about 8) contains more Vitamin C than an entire orange. That's right—the little red berry is a nutritional powerhouse!

What’s a healthy snack you're going to try this week?

    - More strawberries!
    - A different fruit, like an apple or a pear.
    - Something savory, like a handful of almonds or some pretzels.
    - I'm going to have a full-on feast! (healthy, of course!)

    Let's crush this week together!

Strawberries while they are still in season and delish!

Lori M.

It’s finally the season for husk cherries where I live and I’m very excited about them. They’re like little pineapple-y cherry tomatoes that grow in a little husk like a tomatillo. They’re a great snack! My kids love peeling them open.
