Does anyone know how close you have to get to goal weight? This morning I was shy just .3 pounds of my goal. So less than one half of a pound. If that happens tomorrow is it considered a missed goal?

Woke up this morning exactly two pounds away from my goal weight! Really hoping I can get there by the end of this challenge.

You can do it!!! Focus!! :) water first, veggies most at every meal! You’ve got this!

Megan K.

You absolutely can!! Keep it simple and cut out anything that causes inflammation for one week.

Hey there, friends. I haven’t introduced myself yet because I’ve been having a hard time getting into the swing of this. I’ve been struggling with my weight for most of my adult life. I’ve had ups and downs and lots of things that have contributed - having kids, depression, poor work/life balance, etc.. . Now I’m about to turn 45 and facing pre-menopause, and I’m just feeling like it might be now or never! I joined this DietBet looking for some stronger motivation and incentive. I’ve had success here in the past and I’m desperate to get on track, but it’s been a hard start. I want to feel comfortable in my body - physically and mentally. I want to be healthy for my family, and be able to teach my children better life habits than those I’ve had for a long time.
I know what to do, I just don’t know how to make myself start. 😣

Typing this out was the first step! My nutritionist always says make your next meal your next healthy choice! Drink 16 oz of water before every meal and make veggies most for lunch and dinner <—all that comes from my nutritionist, and it’s working for me!

You’re in the right place. I’m also 44 and it’s become so much harder in the last few years to keep the weight off. The only way I know I’ll stick to this is doing diet bet. I hate losing money lol! Otherwise there’s just always an excuse

A brand new bakery just opened minutes from my house. They have all the sweet yummy goodies you would expect. My husband wanted to check it out so we went. I wasn’t planning on getting anything but caved and got the absolute smallest little pastry. Kept myself in check for the rest of the day and fortunately my scale didn’t crash this morning.

  • work has been really stressful this week, but I am making it through. I woke up early this morning after falling asleep at like 8 o’clock and of course I played on my phone for a little while, but finally guilt caught up to me and I went out and rode my bike at 6:30. Oh my God, these clouds were so beautiful and they cut a line straight through the sky of dark and light. It was amazing. I ended up cooking last night with my children. They love to cut vegetables, which is super helpful for me. I also get to spend time with them because they’re not on their devices when they have a knife in their hand and they’re learning just a bit about what goes on. I got on the scale this morning. it was my dehydrated post bicycle weight, but it’s not more than my original weigh in so that’s really my only goal right now. That and posting every day to this app to inspire myself and others to keep on trucking. I put sweetener and some oat milk in my coffee this morning as a treat and had one bite of a chocolate croissant. Let’s not get too crazy this weekend and it’s a great time to get extra round of exercise in. Now is the time.

This will be fun. Here my 5 point action plan to win
1. Drink water like it’s my day job
2. 8 hours sleep
3. Portion control and no sweets
4. 30 min daily exercise
5. sever a limb if needed 😂
Who’s with me? 😝

Sigh, just need to commiserate with someone. I've lost 35 pounds over the last few months. Hard-earned, and I have lost inches and look better (being tall hides things). I decided to check a waist measurement today, expecting to see 32-33 inches. Ya all, it was 37! Still an unhealthy number. When I had my head in the sand, ignoring just how much I had gained, that waist measurement must have reached the 40s. No wonder I'm still fighting hypertension. That was a wake-up call, and I am now even more motivated to work hard to get my waist measurement back into healthy numbers. Still, a bit depressing to realize how much more I need to do. Back a million years ago, I was the skinny one, the one who never gained weight. This is just revolting. Sigh. Ok, just needed to share, I don't have anyone in real life on this journey with me.

I was also the tall skinny girl for most of my life. Age and having two kids completely changed me. I’m coming up on 63 and struggling so much. I’m easily 40 pounds heavier than I was. Losing this weight is hard. Anyone else feel very tempted to use one of the weight loss drugs? Seeing the ads all the time drives me crazy. And I’m not implying they are a bad option or shaming anyone using them. Just wondering how others feel about them.

Lori M.

I follow a couple of people on IG who have gone on incredible weight-loss journeys, including the use of medical interventions. I can definitely say, having seen their transformations, that it was still a lot of hard work! One of them recently posted a picture from the beach on vacation with her family and said it was the very first time she’s ever NOT felt like she needs to lose weight. That was really impactful. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that. I’ve always been fairly curvy, but even at a healthy weight I always thought I looked terrible. Now I WISH I looked like I did back when I thought I was so huge! I have considered the options, but am a bit anxious. In the meantime I’m doing my best to commit to making the changes I can, even one small change at a time.
