Does anyone else fluctuate weight almost daily… I can’t figure out if it’s salt holding onto water or what…

Yeah, I think it's normal for weight to fluctuate daily. Exercise, what you eat, how much you ate, hormones, stress, and more can effect your weight day to day. Is it fluctuating significantly?

Lauren K.

Fluctuating weight daily is definitely normal. Carbs and salt are definitely going to make you hold onto more water. Also water retention during PMS. I can jump 5 to 7 pounds just by what I eat and then knock it off in a couple days :sob:
If you’re weighing yourself daily, I wouldn’t worry about tiny fluctuations, as long as the general trend is going down

I am ahead of my goal. I did a Kickstarter and weighed in today. That is what made the difference for me. Hopefully I don't go crazy over the next couple days.

Jane B.

I have met my goal for this round.

And the yoyoing continues. So yesterday the gain and plateau was gone. Then today i gain a whole 5lbs! Before the complaints come, I either get on the scale daily or I stop altogether. Seeing the number helps me to eat better. I did eat a dill pickle but 5 lbs is ridiculous. I'll add only half to a salad next time. Ah!!!!

  • Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a great first week. I’m so happy to report I’m down 4 lbs already 🎉

Things that are working for me:
    1. Meal planning/prep (I’ve had some help from Clean Eatz for lunches)
    2. Tracking my food with MyFitnessPal (nothing is perfect but this helps keep me accountable)
    2. Started a new workout program utilizing the Ladder app and I’m enjoying the change up
    3. Adding in some cardio to complement the strength training and for a bit more calorie burn

Things that don’t work for me:
    1. Strict dieting, I’m a firm believer of everything in moderation
    2. Weighing my food (I feel like this is too restrictive and personally sets me up for unhealthy obsession)
    3. Weighing myself daily
    4. Early AM workouts

Wishing you the best of luck in this journey to better health ✌

I started late, but I’m down 5.2 pounds. I know it’s water weight, but I’ll take it! What works for me is lowering my carbs, but not eliminating them, more walking, making good food choices.

Alex P.

Love this! Great job and glad you've been able to identify the things that have been working.

Things that have been working for me: meal prepping/ planning, less carbs and more veggies, walking on my lunch break, meditating in the morning before I do anything else.

My weight has been a little all over the place so I'll need to be consistent (especially over the next 2 weekends) to hit my goal.

I knew a thin person who worked as a barista - she died early 20s, her family just found her in bed, so too much can be bad for some people. But yeah she drank it non-stop

Brewflection

I’m so sorry to hear about your barista's passing. Drinking too much coffee can be harmful and may lead to serious health risks, such as heart problems or anxiety (Smith 42). Moderation is important. Thankfully, decaf coffee still provides many of the same antioxidants and health benefits as regular coffee, but with less caffeine, making it a safer choice for many (Jones 88). Take care of yourself, and remember that balance is key. ☕??

  • Just finished my 6th Kickstarter Bet and after barely reaching my goal by .2 pounds I decided I need to probably slow my goals. I’m hoping to lose more than 10% by the end of this Transformer but it’s a good place to start. I’m down 45 lbs in those 6 previous consecutive DietBets! 🙌🎉

That's freaking amazing! Way to keep the momentum!

Mindywindy

I felt the same way trying to lose 4% in a month was a lot. I’m hoping that this longer challenge will be a good pace for weight loss.

Didn't have the most successful weekend, but I do feel like it was an improvement from the previous weekends. Went over a bit on calories, but had a fun and active weekend.

I feel like I had a good week this week. One thing I had been struggling with before this diet bet was eating my prepped food too early and then being hungry or waking up the next morning hungry and then binging by the weekend. I feel like I was eating like I was stressed and a little out of control. But this week I've done a better job of spacing out my meals. I usually take lunch and dinner with me to work since I'm out of the house all day once I leave. It helped to separate my lunch and dinner into different containers and lunch bags so I didn't eat them both in the morning. Also cut back a little on the rice and beans and added more veggies. I meditated every morning this week and got a little more sleep. And despite how stressful this week has been I do feel like I've been more calm around my eating. I hope this peace moves into the weekend with me as that's been where I'm struggling the most.

What apps is everyone using to track?
I’m obsessed w Macrofactor (it calculates my expenditure weekly, good to keep track of how much energy I’m expending & it also has a huuuge knowledge base) but curious to know what yall use.

Cronometer. I like all the information it gives me on micronutrients too, and I can easily build meals and recipes, and it will allow me to have basic food plan logged automatically every day which is great for me since I eat the same breakfast and lunch every day.

Brewflection

I use samsung health.
