I need some motivation to keep going!! My scale hasn’t moved in a week because I’m starting to slack on counting my calories…how do you keep your motivation up?

I just remember my “why” and that a few perceived setbacks can’t get in my way.

Since I joined this Dietbet on Tuesday, I have seen the scale drop every day… I’m sure most of that has been water. This morning, Friday, I woke up and my scale hadn’t moved from yesterday. I almost let that give me license to say “screw it” and go buy some Morning breakfast rolls and make bad choices, but then I remembered that it’s only one day and I can’t sabotage myself because I will regret it.

I hear ya. Just logging for a few days can - at least for me - really puts portion sizes in check. A balanced plate at most meals helps me-protein, carb, healthy fat…veggies too. I am trying to start my meal with veggies-and chew my food well-I tend to eat too fast-thanks to short lunch breaks throughout the years. lol..I struggle logging recipes-it is time consuming…so at least for me-as we are all different. I am trying to eat as uncomplicated as possible and log as much as I can that I eat. I use cronometer. But am trying not to stress about a meal here and there not accounted for. As I want this to be sustainable in the long term and not cut anything out completely-so I don’t binge. If that makes sense. We got this!

After five years, two babies and many excuses have made it back to into the gym. Hoping to keep up the momentum with dietbet.

Great job on taking the first steps. I know for me getting motivated is the hardest part

Today is the first day in a long time that I felt motivated and actually excited to walk 10,000 steps.

That is so great, Gabriela! You've got this!

I’ve been using my Apple Watch and the StepsApp because it lets me add a widget onto my Apple Watch face that tells me how many steps I have. I like it because I don’t have to go open up the fitness app on my phone to find out how many steps I have.

  • It’s Workout Wednesday!

What activity are you doing today? Make it fun and make it work for you! Go for a walk, take a yoga class, do some spring cleaning. Start small - it all adds up!

It’s been pretty hot here lately, so I’m sticking to indoor exercise. Let's get moving!

Members, don't forget to submit your Progress weigh-in for extra accountability and to be entered into the weekly prize drawing!

We just moved so I’ve been very active putting stuff away. I have been going up and down stairs all day.

You're all doing great! Moving is DEFINITELY a workout, Tawnya!

So let me share a little bit about me.

Disclaimer: I’m not trying to offend anyone. This is about me and me only.

I have not blossomed, not bloomed, but ballooned to 193 pounds. I have been living a life of stress and perimenopause for about 4 years. Between eating like crap, not sleeping and just being generally unhappy, I have absolutely let myself goooooo.

My 35 year high school reunions (I went to two schools during my childhood) are next year. I have decided THEY are the reason I need to make changes. It could be for my health, my family, my comfort, but truth be told, those reunions are my motivator.

I have joined more Dietbets in the last 10 years than I can count, I have given up hundreds of dollars, I have eaten more junk food and spent more time in recliners than any person ever should. But this time I am determined to make it stick. When I took my photos this morning I really realized how much I had let myself go.

I have started simply by cutting out the junk food and drinking probably 10 times more water than I had been (which was nearly zero ounces) each day. I’m going to make these two small changes for the first week and see where it gets me. I will add exercise and more vegetables to my diet as time progresses.

Thank you for your time and I wish luck to each and everyone of you.

I am so with you on this. I appreciate your vulnerability and honesty! I am feeling similarly to what you shared and it is time. Time for self care in whatever form benefits us…is how I see it. I’m rooting for us all!

Tawnya R.

I’m battling perimenopause too so I can totally relate. Great job getting motivated.

I find the dietbets where people chat in the comments and in the game feed more helpful and inspirational! Let's try to get it rolling! I'm excited that I've exercised for 3 days consecutively(started Sunday)! I hadn't done that in awhile. What's something that you've switched up since starting this bet?

Man, yes…. No nighttime snacking for me too, which is SO hard!

Yay! Keep up the great work! My fiancé and I are focusing on a higher protein way of eating. I have PCOS and he’s had the gastric sleeve so high protein is best for both of us.
