  • Thank you all so much for your support. Sorry to have been quiet the last few days. I was taking a little time to rest and reset with what appears to be a new normal.

I did see my knee surgeon today. He says that the knee looks fine and the ligaments surrounding it are all good. He liked the changes I have made this week to address the issue. I'm just going to have to be careful to avoid situations that might creating the pain and swelling in the future.

I DID stick to the plan all week, and the scales moved some finally. I still have a little over 5 pounds to go to meet my goal, which sounds like a lot but when you start to heavy, you have to lose a lot more weight to hit your 4%. Hoping next week will include exercise and I'll be able to sneak in under the goal.

This is a game of many small steps adding up to a big goal!

Good job, Keith. Pain can be so debilitating. I congratulate you on pushing through, and taking serious steps to preserve your health. I started out a lot heavier, 145 pounds heavier. 4% is a lot more when starting out, but still doable. Keep up the good work!!

That picture is perfect. Thank you for sharing

  • One of the biggest reasons for joining this was the daily pain I’m in. I can feel my body’s weakness, and it scares me.

Yesterday I started a beginner routine that I feel is doable without pressure. I got it from @HybridCalisthenics on instagram. Im going to do super beginner forms of all of these and work from there. Thu, Fri, and Sat are the same as Mon, Tue and Wed. He has images and tips on his website of the same name: hybridcalisthenics.com

Im doing Wall push ups, wall pull ups, knee lifts, jackknife squats, glute bridges and twists. And yesterday my body popped and cracked so much I could replace the percussion section in a high school marching band 😂

Thanks I just followed his page!! I never heard the concept of wall pull-ups, so I just watched. We have a pull-up bar in my house and I have terrible upper body strength, but I’ve been trying to work on that, do a few lame ass pull-ups every evening (like, just my shoulders move), and I figured I’d just slowly get better eventually. so I’m excited to try this when I get home!

As a former high school band director, your last line was hilarious! Your body is telling your mind and heart that it needs help and you are responding! Great start!

What’s your game plan for tomorrow? I was thinking of posting my goals for the following day/each morning daily to hold myself accountable. Anyone interested in joining?

Tomorrow walk 10,000 steps outside because it’s finally above freezing! Eat a healthy snack after my walk, so I’m not grabbing cookies. Sleep good tonight. More water.

Drink more water and avoid late night sugar cravings are my goals for week 1

My Dietbet membership commenced in November 2018, although my participation lapsed for over two years. My initial weight was 261.2 pounds, and at my last participation in August 2022, it was 221 pounds. My current weight is 178.2 pounds, with a target weight of 150 pounds, which I aim to achieve by summer. I am rejoining to maintain accountability, as the financial incentive strongly motivates me to achieve this goal. Good luck everyone.

@Clovia, ditto for me, as well. It has been impossible to do much with the cold. This week should be good, though. I need to walk! lol

Betty K.

Congratulations on your progress, Clovis!!! You’re doing great. I wish I could do that. I yo-yo diet way too much - I really need to find a way to stop that.
