So this morning I am 2.3 lbs under the goal. This afternoon we are having a family get together, BBQ for my son's birthday. Ribs, chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, baked Mac n cheese, deviled eggs, brownies and ice cream. I want to eat and enjoy myself, but I'll be so upset with myself if I ruin this before weigh in.

  • Truth time: I’m not a big meal prepper 🙋???. I’m more of a “what’s in the fridge and what can I make from it?” kinda gal. Because let’s be real—what sounds good today, I probably won’t want two days from now 😂.

    That said, I do like having a few things prepped and ready, plus extra water bottles filled, so I’ve got zero excuses when it comes to hitting my nutrition, water, steps, and miles goals 💪. Flexibility + a little prep = balance that actually works for me.

I'm sooo with you, I just can't get with the meal prep thing. I don't understand how people eat the same things day in and day out. I eat something different every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have a seven day protein plan for dinner like Mon shrimp, Tue chicken, Wed pork chops, etc. That's as far as the meal planning goes and the only reason for that is so we don't eat the same meat twice in a week. We buy 95% whole foods, very little processed convenient foods and those are mostly cause of two teen boys. Football practice, busy lives. I can make a meal in 30 minutes or less from the food we keep on hand, I find the meal prep unnecessary.

I feel like thats what gets me. I will eat something that im not sure how to track (not sure of all ingredients) so I feel like i am cheating by not putting it in but I think like you, as long as I know i have several calories left im ok.

It's a pretty rare occasion that I don't try to figure it out. But yes there can be hidden calories in a lot of the things we can't or don't try to decifer. Best of luck!

@Julie, I cut out sugar and carbs. Drinking only water, though I've been bad about not drinking as much as I should lately. I start my mornings off with eggs and other protein like sausage, bacon, steak. Sometimes I'll treat myself and get the low carb bread from Aldi that is like 10g carbs per slice and have 2 slices for French toast. I stick to broccoli, cauliflower, squash, zucchini, spinach, Brussel sprouts for veggies and all the meats! Lunch is either meat and cooked veggies or a salad with steak or chicken depending on where I get it (chipotle or chick fil a). If my family orders pizza I get buffalo wings.
