I’m slightly obsessive and usually weigh every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I left Sunday on a cruise. I get home next Sunday. I’m trying not to freak out that not only do I not control my food (I do control my choices) I also don’t have a scale. I did think about bringing one but I figured I wouldn’t have good readings on a ship out to sea. I’m fantasizing that when I get home, I not only didn’t gain but I lost 3 pounds and went to the next decade. I know I’m dreaming. I know when I get home I’ll have a harsh wake up. But I’m walking several miles a day, I’m not finishing my meals, I’m drinking my water. Maybe I’ll get lucky. (But I did have a soft serve small ice cream cone at lunch after I had my slice of pork roast, salad and half a chicken breast.

That sounds so fun! I went on a week vacation last month and was so worried. We were very active walking and snorkeling every day, and I did my best food wise (for the most part). I maintained, which I considered a win! You've got this and if the scale doesn't say what you hope, it's all about what you do next. It sounds like no matter what, you'll be back on track which is the real win! ?

I was at a winning number for the game when I left last Sunday so hopefully I’m still there when I get back. Tonight is elegant night. I am not making the wisest choice. I’m having prime rib, Caesar salad and crème brûlée Tomorrow night is Greek salad, bbq beef brisket and baked Alaska. Then we are home Sunday. I know I’ll get on the scale and I know it won’t be a true number because I’m picking up Starbucks for the drive home at 9 am.

I am almost 39 and I am so upset. I work so hard to lose every pound and then over spring break/ post lent I spent 1 week on vacation and gained 5 pounds and set myself back 3 months! It is such a struggle to lose the weight but it is so easy to gain it back. I have an appointment next week to check my hormones because I think I am hitting perimenopause because 5 years ago it wasn't this hard to lose weight. I am so frustrated that I won't be making my goal for this month and I have to be very strict with my diet for the next month to get back on track. I was so happy with my progress and all of that out the window in 1 week ☹️

I do intermittent fasting as well 16:8 and track calories on MyFitnessPal app. Hang in there and find what works for you. I wish I could say it gets easier but if you start good habits now it will be better. I’m 53 :scream:

How are you doing now? Some of it could be water weight (hopefully!) - my weight fluctuates a few lbs day to day. It’s crazy. Intermittent fasting window (like eating only 11 AM to 5 PM), lots of water, low sodium and low carb the few days before a weigh-in have helped me. Also detox teas and options to shed retained water can help. Good luck!

My scale died and I feel helpless! It uses one of those stupid button batteries and I don’t have any extra. Trying not to spiral from lack of control. It would not be a big deal but today is an in office day.

Oh no! Is it a food scale? I can see how that would be stressful :(

You can try googling a helpful infographic for measurements until you're able to get a new battery. For example: the size of your palm = 1 serving of protein, the size of your fist = 1 serving of veggies, etc. I hope you're able to get a new battery soon!

  • Non-scale victory today. So exciting, think Navin Johnson getting his name in the phone book. I was able to get my wedding rings off today for the first time ever in years.
