  • Labwork today but still made sure to get a workout with my swolemate! Having a good support system while you change your life is so important. Being able to be around longer to live a life with my husband as the best version of myself has always been one of my 'whys' for fighting for my health. Who or what keeps your motivated?

That's awesome! My motivation is my health and mobility and of course being my best version for my husband, kids and grandbabies. I was recently diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my lower back. I'm determined to keep mobility.

I feel like doing these challenges is teaching me a lot about what does or doesn't work for me, so I've started taking notes for myself :) Here's what I wrote today, in case it's helpful to anyone else.

1. Spiritual practice, sleep, time outdoors, and an orderly living environment are my most important daily pillars. When they are in place, good food and movement choices follow.

2. Structure, even if it’s unrelated to diet and exercise, helps me stay on track. If I don’t have time for my full morning or evening routine, I should just do shorter versions of the things I usually do.

3. Sparkling water is a fine treat, but it doesn’t hydrate me like still water does, and it sometimes confuses my hunger signals.

4. I feel better throughout the day if I front-load minerals early in the day (e.g., smoothie bowl with spinach).

5. I should respond promptly to cravings for movement, stretching, fresh air, screen breaks, etc. If I don’t, my body may “invent” a food craving to force me to take a break.

I celebrated my 40th birthday on Sunday.. and Monday.. and Tuesday 😂😂 so from the last challenge final weigh in to my starting weigh in this time I’m up about 2.5/3lbs. In the past I would feel so frustrated with myself and go off track thinking “ what’s the point.. I messed up” but in the last couple years I’ve learned to have grace with myself and just keep showing up. So here I am.. putting in the work and showing up for myself. No one can do the work for me and I owe it to myself to be healthy and in the right head space.. for myself but also for my family.

So guys.. when you feel like giving up DONT. Just keep showing up, pushing play and putting in work. It’s gunna pay off I promise.. just don’t give up ❤

Love your attitude toward celebrating a milestone and then continuing with good habits. I’m up a couple pounds since my last challenge too and trying to use it as an opportunity to work on self-encouragement and perseverance. Thanks for your great example

Happy 40th Birthday!!! Reward yourself and don't beat yourself over it!! You will down those lbs easy. Just go back to eating clean for a few days, exercise and watch the pounds melt back off. Come back and let me know how it worked for you.
