  • We all love that first morning cup of coffee. But before you flip the switch on the coffee maker tomorrow, there is one critical step your body is begging for: a big glass of water.

Think about it: you’ve just spent several hours sleeping. Your body has been working hard to restore itself, but it hasn't had a single drop of liquid all night. Waking up mildly dehydrated is the #1 reason we feel groggy, sluggish, and slow to move in the morning.

Drinking 12–16 ounces of water right when you get out of bed:
    • Fires up your metabolism for the day.
    • Wakes up your digestion and flushes out toxins.
    • Boosts your brainpower so you feel alert faster.

Are you joining the "Water First, Coffee Second" challenge this weekend? Drop the water emoji if you are in! 💧

  • Weekend Nutrition Focus
Weekends can be some of the hardest days for staying on track. Different schedules, social events, or just the “weekend mindset” can make it tempting to skip healthy habits. But remember — your progress doesn’t take a break just because it’s Saturday or Sunday!
Here’s how to stay intentional while still enjoying your weekend:
    1. Plan Ahead
Even a few minutes of meal or snack prep can prevent grabbing whatever’s convenient. Think ahead about balanced options — protein, veggies, and whole grains — so you’re set up for success.
    2. Balance Treats with Nutrition
It’s okay to enjoy your favorite indulgences! Pair them with fruits, vegetables, or protein to help keep your energy steady and avoid feeling sluggish afterward.
    3. Hydrate Consistently
Water helps with digestion, energy, and appetite management. Keep a bottle handy and sip throughout the day.
    4. Move Your Body
Even 10–20 minutes of activity counts — a walk outside, a short home workout, or stretching can reset your mindset and help balance out extra indulgences.
    5. Mindful Eating
Before each meal or snack, ask yourself: Am I truly hungry or just bored? Eat slowly, savor your food, and stop when you’re comfortably full.
    6. Celebrate Small Wins
Every mindful choice matters — whether it’s adding an extra serving of veggies, drinking an extra glass of water, or choosing a protein-rich snack. These add up over time!

What’s one nutrition habit you’re committing to this weekend? Meal prep, adding veggies, drinking more water, or mindful eating? Drop a ✅ or share below — let’s inspire each other!
Remember: consistency > perfection. One choice at a time is how progress happens. You’ve got this!

I'm just trying to make healthier choices overall, and when I want a treat, I make it very small to satisfy my craving but not overdo it

I have a hard time after weighing in and then eating like crap for a week. So I'm up more lbs than I'd like to be. Getting back on track now. Anyone else??

Absolutely and I try to replace the crap with good replacements like water and nothingness like sleep. But I fall in traps. The mantra and meditation is the way I find to overcome. This is the way

Lost this one. Understood that as soon as I notice weight dropping I stop tracking (would use this term instead of "count") calories and overeat. As simple as that is!!
Also I just cannot control myself when missing sleep (happens rarely, but happens)
Those who are winning - keep your results!! Proud of how strong you are 💚
Next one I'm winning for sure 😃

Non-scale victory is that I have noticed that I have an insane amount of energy between getting my workouts in and cutting back on the extra junk food!

Mary B.

My body has been tired this week, but even getting a small workout in during the day (even like a 20 min walk) is better than nothing. I did such a walk earlier this week when I was feeling “Brain tired” from work and it helped me feel so much better.

So frustrating. I was below goal weight several times this month then a few days ago scale jumped 3lbs (I had a mustard/butter/caper sauce that I expected caused water retention). Anyway I was less than a pound away yesterday so I fasted, and was just .2 lbs away today. Continued fast and final met goal. Then when I went to do official weigh in tonight the scale kept jumping all over (8lb differences). Then it died. I had no new batteries. I took the two that were installed and swapped places. Scale worked again but higher weight. At least I’m still in the game - when the scales died I thought I was screwed!

Most frustrating weigh in ever! I really wanted to win all 6 rounds but looks like I’ll have to settle for just 5 rounds.

On the scale dilemma, I changed the batteries not too long ago. Now I’m wondering if I need a new set of scales. This one is over 8 years old. Any thoughts? And I’ll always be sure to have extra batteries in the future.

  • Good morning and welcome to Workout Wednesday!

Exercise or any movement is a great way to take care of yourself. Sometimes taking just 20 minutes to move your body can help to lower your stress as well as helping your heart health.

If you don't have a workout planned today, you can still make it happen with a walk around your neighborhood after dinner. If you do have a workout planned, excellent!

Share how you are taking care of yourself by moving your body :)

I didn’t focus on diet and exercise this month. Hit goal weight for the round at the beginning. I did win the round with plenty of wiggle room but not much in the way of progress this month. I guess it was like being in maintenance mode.

I’m recommitting myself to be strict again. It won’t be challenging to hit the round goal but I really want to get out of obese BMI and into “overweight.

Debating a kickstarter for extra motivation but it may be hard to lose 4% in a month when I’ve been dieting/losing for several months now. Anyone else doing a kickstarter this month?

No. I can’t do those anymore cos I’ve been losing for 1.5 years and it’s slow and steady. Took me several rounds to start winning even this challenge because I don’t lose a lot at once. Wish the goal steps in these 6 month challenges were spaced out more evenly rather than expecting you lose a lot at first! Good luck to you!

Lisa P.

Thanks everyone. I am doing well - hit the next round goal unexpectedly today.

I think 4% in a month would be hard now. Lose is much slower and I go through plateaus and then slow lose. I did overlapping transformers and maybe that’s the way to go - although the first 2 months at 3% each month will be a challenge!

I’m not a member so the maintenance and longer games or lower % options for bets are not open to me.

Good luck everyone!
